"This is a mix to create individual servings like the Warm Delights, cake in a mug/cup craze. It is "just add water". It makes a rich, fudgy cake. This is suitable for gift giving. It does not use a cake mix to start, and does not use egg. It is prepared in the microwave. 4 Tbl of mix filled my mug about half full, it does rise a little when cooking. This amount of mix will make 11 cakes, or if your mug is big enough for a double batch it will make 5. If you just want to make one just decrease the yield to 1 cake. 1. So if i were to substitute the dry milk for regular milk would i still need to add the water as well?

  2. Do you think this mix would work in an easy bake oven? I’m trying to make less expensive, easy to mix with one liquid, individual desserts in ziplocks. The easy bake oven mixes are crazy expensive.

  3. Have you tried it without the cocoa powder? Would you substitute something for that?

  4. Does cocoa mean unsweetened cocoa powder, or hot chocolate mix, or something else?

  1. Yum! This was so quick to throw together. I skipped the dry milk and used 2 tbsp. of skim milk.

  2. Just made this. Followed "itsneverenough"s suggestion and used liquid milk instead of powdered milk and water. Added 1 Tbsp semi-sweet chips and topped the yummy results with a scoop of French vanilla ice cream. Now I've got to get up and make my hubby a second helping!! This doesn't rise much so making in a ramekin would work

  3. Definitely a 5 star recipe. This worked out perfectly when reduced to one serving (not all recipes adjust properly) and love that I can adjust to any amount of servings I need and can be confident this will work. After cooking, I topped mine with some mini chocolate chips that melted nicely just before I started eating. Will definitely be making this again. Tagged during Healthy Choices Tag game where if you divide it out it is just under 120 calories per cake.

  5. Tried 4 different recipes for mug cakes and all of them had to much the taste of egg in them, so when a saw this one with no egg decided to try it. My kids loved this one, they tried all the other recipes and this one got 3 thumbs up!! they loved it so much, they want it for dessert tonight again and with this being low cal and low fat i really don't mind them having it again today. Thanks for sharing!!

  1. Try adding about a tablespoon of baking powder. It makes the cake rise more and gives it a better texture.
