It's been a busy weekend! Create full math exams for 6th, 7th and 8th grade to prep for the NYS Math exams after break. PDFs of a full test are available if you want to try on paper or computer copies on GoFormative if you want your kid to try it out and see how they do! AND videos are ready for 7th and 8th grade, premiering on YouTube today and tomorrow. Do audio for 6th grade and maybe even 5th grade so I can show what it's like to take a math test on computers!

"It's easier to keep up than to catch up" in math means it's easier to stay on top of your work everyday than to procrastinate and do a whole bunch last minute. Math keeps building skills on itself so when you really get the basics, the hard stuff later on becomes easier. Falling behind in math makes learning way harder later in the year.I used to tell my students it wasn't how you start but how you finish but that didn't always set my kids up to be successful. Math procrastination is a challenge for anxious kids and if the work piles up too fast, it may not realistically be possible to get it all done. Even when kids do try to get it all done last minute, it's not their best work and the learning isn't as effective.
